Stopped by my bike dealer the other day. Couple of things. First, he had not heard of the Savage being shut off in the states. He had a nice silver one on the floor.

What got me off though was that he had a '99 VStar-1100 custom with 5900 miles on it (they got it from the local Harley shop). It looked great, it had a bunch of options on it (soft bags, headlighs, windshield and more). I figure at least a $1000 of options on top of the $8000 price for a new bike. Looked immaculate and no marks from being dropped. I'm going to maybe ride it after xmas. The asking price is $6500. What do you think? I think I can aford to keep the Savage (almost paid for) .

Third point and anoter question. They had a beautiful Maruader. The only question I have about the bike is that fact that it is chain drive. Would this this a maintenace issue given that I don't ride all that much but I'm hoping to get away more next summer.

If I'm going to stretch and keep both bike the VStar seems to make much more sense. I would want to start doing big rides (300-400 mile) next summer. Think its big enough?
